Google has re branded Tez to Google Pay in India. With Google Pay, users will be able to send or receive payments at no extra charge to anyone, even to those who don't use the app, similar to how Tez currently operates. Users can also pay their monthly bills or split their fees using Google Pay.
Google rolled out its Tez mobile payment app in India in September last year to provide users in that country a way to send and receive money to and from all Indian banks that support the unified payments interface (UPI). While Tez has been available in India for nearly a year now, Google also has another mainstream mobile payment app outside of the country called Google Pay.
The mobile payment app can also be used to shop and check out items from various websites including Dish TV, redBus, Xiaomi's Mi store, Jet Airways, and more. Just like Tez, Google Pay is also compatible with banks that support UPI in India such as Axis Bank, Bank Of India, ICICI Bank, HSBC, and more. For a complete list of supported banks, click here.
While you are sending money to another Google Pay user, the app retains the privacy of your private data such as bank account and phone number.
