ittefaq is an upcoming 2017 Indian thriller film, directed by Abhay Chopra and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions. The film is inspired from the 1969 film by the same name, directed by Yash Chopra.The crime thriller that is being co-produced by Red chillies entertainment, Dharma and B R Studios and directed by B.R. Chopra's grandson Abhay Chopra, will however not be a direct rip-off, of the original that was considered as one of the path-breaking films for the lead actors then.

Dev (Akshaye Khanna), a police officer, is investigating a double murder case that has only two witnesses, who are also the prime suspects. The suspects - Vikram (Siddharth Malhotra), an acclaimed writer, and Maya (Sonakshi Sinha), a young homemaker, have different narratives about the events of that fateful night. Both the stories seem true but there can only be one truth. Dev is torn between the two versions of the story, and will not settle till he finds out what happened that night.

The story of Ittefaq, as we well know, is about two killings most foul. In the new take, a twist in the tale delivers an intriguing perfect-murder scenario in which the lawman comes tantalizingly close to bringing a fugitive to book. As a film, Ittefaq is definitely more than half-decent. It is competently mounted, compact and visually classy. As a thriller, however, its twists and turns aren't exactly of the kind that would blow you away. Ittefaq falls a tad short of being a genuine humdinger. But, to be sure, it falls only a tad short.

What makes this film stand out is Abhay Chopra's smart direction. He has brilliantly handled this disturbing thrill ride. Not for a second, it feels like the man behind the lens is a first-time director. He tricks the viewers inside his characters without providing a complete picture of what’s happening. 


Sidharth looks believable as Vikram on screen. In fact, Ittefaq could become a career-changing film for the actor after he failed to impress the audience with his last two outings.

Chopra has a fine sense of composition, pacing (watch out for those Match Cuts: in one instance, Sonakshi Sinha opens a bottle of liquor and Chopra cuts to a scene of Akshaye Khanna holding a glass of tea) and a love for genre-cinema that he makes no attempt to mask.


This is a murder mystery for murder mystery-lovers and its deficiencies and heights are built into its rhythm.

Watch Ittefaq because the film reveals a great deal about how Bollywood filmmaking has changed over the past five decades. As far as its final twist goes, Ittefaq is a whocareswhodunit but what it does have, as compensation, is the shock and suggestiveness of pulp served hot. If that isn't a big enough draw, watch it for nonpareil Akshaye Khanna. He overshadows everyone - and everything - in Ittefaq.

MERSAL TAMIL MOVIE FULL REVIEW 2017

Mersal deals with Vetri a magician and Maran a doctor who are brothers separated from their past reunite to avenge their father's death.A few individuals in the medical profession are murdered or kidnapped, and the cop investigating the case suspects a doctor and arrests him.

The film begins with the kidnapping of a few individuals and the arrest of Dr Maaran (Vijay), who, the investigating officer Rathnavel (Sathyaraj) believes is the mastermind. As he interrogates the doctor on why he let himself get captured, he learns that it is actually Vetri (Vijay) , a magician - and a look-alike of Maaran - who has committed these crimes.There can be no doubt that Mersal is a story written for actor Vijay. Each frame, dialogue, action and reaction celebrates the actor, and what he does best. Vijay is better off when he spews dialogue with restraint. Not loud, but he levels off well with SJ Suryah, who is a theatrical foil.
Mersal has a narrative flow that keeps the audience curious all along as the protagonist is on a mission to terminate rotten medical practitioners. The screenplay aims at confusing the audience to make them believe that a magician-doctor is on a killing spree as it wants to set them up for a big surprise revelation. The surprise is that the protagonist has an identical twin, who reveals his identity in a pre-interval action sequence. It would have been, indeed, a major twist in the narration, only if the filmmakers had taken extra care to prevent spoilers.

The success of any revenge-based masala movie is the effectiveness of its antagonist and it is here that Mersal feels a little underwhelming. Atlee seems to have wanted an antagonist who is suave and sinister, but perhaps because we have only recently seen a terrifically over-the-top SJ Suryah in Spyder, his characterisation of Daniel Arockiaraj here comes across as a rather subdued villain, even though the actor does well. The fight for land, the fight against corruption and capitalism has translated into a good popcorn entertainer that celebrates, Ilayathalapathy, now Thalapathy.
The one thing that could have been avoided was the stretchy second half and the manner in which Samantha’s character’s arc is resolved. This does make one wonder if the director tried to pack a little too much in the film than was needed.

Mersal promised to be a good masala entertainer and it delivers on it.

SECRET SUPERSTAR BOLLYWOOD MOVIE REVIEW 2017

The film revolves around the life of a child who aspires to be a singer.

Insia Malik is a talented 15-year-old school girl from Baroda whose spirit is ripped because her mother is in a troubled and violent marriage. Of course she still dares to pursue her dream of becoming a singer and she also valiantly attempts to free her mother from her conservative, cold father.

Secret Superstar proceeds at leisure. Running over 150 minutes, it has the luxury of establishing the disturbing circumstances existing in Insiya’s conservative household. While the family tries to support each other, the patriarchal father beats them, taunts them for being failures in life, and shows love only to the son. 
Aamir is the scene-stealer. His character — a cross between the brash American Idol judge Simon Cowell and your crass Bollywood music directors from the 80-90s — appears like a caricature at the start. But you invest in him eventually because of the nuances he brings. It is also commendable that he never really attempts to steal the limelight from young Zaira, who is an absolute delight to watch. Najma (Meher) as the submissive wife says so much without spelling it out. And others like — Chintan (Tirth Sharma) and child-actor Guddu (Kabir) are adorable.


Amit Trivedi's music is pleasing but the score doesn't have the winning quality needed for a film like this. The lyrics by Kausar Munir just about pass muster.
Secret Superstar’s biggest asset is Aamir Khan. His comedy despite being slapstick in nature, is worth noticing. Zaira Wasim lives up to the expectations and the film has a message. In short, Secret Superstar has everything you ask for, but it isn’t exceptional storytelling.


If there is one thing that can be blamed for it, it’s the overt melodrama. Imagine the same film without Aamir Khan and you’ll realise how Shakti Kumar has overpowered the real Secret Superstar and hence the theme of the film.

Villain is an Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller film written and directed by B. Unnikrishnan and produced by Rockline Venkatesh. The film stars Mohanlal, Vishal, Manju Warrier, Raashi Khanna, Hansika Motwani, and Srikanth. Manoj Paramahamsa was the cinematographer, film score was composed by Sushin Shyam.

Villain is the first Indian film to be completely filmed and released in 8K resolution.The film released on 27 October 2017.

Director B Unnikrishnan’s new film Villain, starring Mohanlal as the protagonist, has some well written and well-shot scenes that establish the mood of the character and give the audience a fair idea as to what could have happened to him or her in a particular scene with the minimal use of words. The director has let the visuals speak for themselves mostly, which sets a serious tone and texture for the film.It's lovely to see Manju Warrier and Mohanlal romancing on screen. The couple shares a palpable chemistry and the best scenes in the film undoubtedly belong to their shared moments. Although a brief role, Manju lights up the screen and the relationship between them comes across as genuine even though neither character is defined beyond a few broad strokes.

It is perhaps for the first time that Raashi Khanna as Harshita Chopra, a cop, and Hansika as Shreya, a qualified doctor, have not had the camera obsessing with their navel or other body parts. Raashi Khanna, especially, pulls off the "migrant labourer" cop (as someone cheekily remarks) well. Srikanth, as the "migrant villain", though, is disappointing and very little imagination has gone into his character. A shiny suit is all he gets.

Coming back to Mathew, we see a man who is intelligent and has the skill to deconstruct a crime scene unlike anyone else. His introduction, however, shows a man who is lost. It is appropriate as he did lose his family. Initially, Mathew is back on duty for a day before he chooses to take voluntary retirement. However circumstances require him to solve one last case that also happens to bring him face to face with the murderer of his family.

The way he struggles between vengeance and justice, the way he quotes Lady Macbeth and addresses life as a dark comedy, the way he dealt with his loss are all contrasts of his complex character. His colleague, Harshita Chopra (played by Rashi Khanna) observes that there are times when he seems unhinged. These instances are probably the best scenes in the film. Especially when he tells Harshita to not push him as he is stand on a fine line between suicide and murder does hit your hard.

Villain might not satisfy the audiences, who expect a nail-biting theatre experience. But is undoubtedly an impressive emotional thriller. Watch it for the magnificent performances of Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, and Vishal.

GOLMAAL AGAIN BOLLYWOOD MOVIE REVIEW

Golmaal Again, the fourth installment in Rohit Shetty-Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal series, starts with Tabu narrating the childhood stories of Madhav-Gopal and gang - they were orphans and found home with Jamunadas who started an orphanage with our five stars as the first “batch” of kids. The story tells us what made the gang of five take different paths and what brought them back together.
Golmaal is the screwball comedy franchise that has been kept alive for the last eleven years. Reruns on satellite channels always make you chuckle, no matter from which point you catch the film. Like its previous instalments, this one too has moments of unadulterated fun. The gags alternate between being truly funny and averagely routine but you find yourself laughing uncontrollably because each of the actors here is a delight to watch. Whether it's the lisping Lakshman (Shreyas) or the bully Gopal, who is petrified of ghosts, everyone is so proficient, you can't help but smile at their antics. The dialogue is pedestrian but witty. 
This movie involves digging up the past of the familiar infamous five - Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) and the two Laxmans (Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade) - and getting them to revisit their roots now as manchild adults. The quintet heads to their orphanage in Ooty to attend the prayer meet of its deceased owner. Here they encounter the librarian-ghost seer (Tabu) and the Kareena KapoorKhan substitute in Parineeti Chopra, whose job here is less to tickle the funnybone and more to smile as the house's caretaker. It takes no less than three seconds to deduce the twist but then again suspense and intrigue are not Shetty's forte. What he's known for are flying stuntmen, high-flying cars, slapstick humour and lowbrow wordplay. He has cut down on the cars in the fourth Golmaal but uses the others excessively to present a loud horror comedy, one that of course refers to Ram Gopal Varma, Vikram Bhatt and Bipasha Basu.

If you are looking for substance, then this one has no logic, only magic. But, if you're looking to just laugh and be merry, Golmaal will again do the trick.

World of Shekhar (Water/Jalam)

The story begins with a wounded Shekhar lying on the road after an accident. The story then shifts to 4 years earlier where Shekhar a kind hearted but assertive college student with stammering issues, along with his best friend Pattu and gang beats up Sanju a guy in his college on the issue that Nelson who is Shekhar's friend and Sanju are in love with the same girl Radhika, a blind but free-spirited dancer. Radhika rejects them both by saying that she loves Shekhar. After realizing that her love is true Shekhar begins to like her a falls in love with her. 4 years later their relationship is disrupted by Shravan, Radhika's brother. The families from both sides meet in order to talk about their relationship and everyone becomes shocked after Radhika reveals that she is pregnant with Shekhar's child. Even after this Radhika's family does not let Shekhar see her but later both of them marry with consent of their families. On the wedding night Radhika tells Shekhar that her father always cared for her and one day she sat on beach near the waves and that she felt so safe that her father was beside her and Shekhar promises that he will take their child one day to that beach. After recovering from the accident Shekhar goes to see his new born baby daughter and Radhika. Radhika after making Shekhar promise that he would take good care of their daughter even though if she has disabilities like them both and disappears and it is revealed that Radhika had infact died of complications in child birth and Shekhar out of grief lost his control that his bike collided with a truck causing the accident. The story ends years later with Shekhar playing with his daughter on the same beach where Radhika went.


World of Trilok (Wind/Vaayu)

The story begins with a girl Ayesha whose cycle collides with a BMW car driven by Thomas Zachariah, a rich businessman. Zachariah's son in law Justin decides to save her but Zachariah declines it by saying that they will be arrested and that too they are drunk but Justin puts her in the car and rushes to the hospital but she dies on the the way and Zachariah instead of taking the body to the hospital disposes it on the road. 4 years later Justin and his wife Annie are saddened by the demise of Zachariah. Later Justin after returning from a business deal discovered that his car's brakes are not working. The car then crashes leaving Justin wounded but is saved by Dr. Trilok Menon, a veterinary surgeon. As Trilok rushes to the hospital with Justin, he notices the photo of Ayesha in Trilok's car and realizes that she was his wife. After almost recovering Justin tells everything to Annie and decides to to tell the truth to Trilok and calls him to the hospital. Justin narrates the whole incident to Trilok and a not shocked Trilok asks him whether he can feel his hand. Trilok then reveals that it was really him who killed Zachariah by poisoning his drink thus making a heart attack and even Justin's accident too was orchestrated by him and he also had injected a drug in Justin's drip a few minutes back, that would make him brain dead within minutes. He then says that he was tracking them all these years and he had heard everything that Zachariah and Justin told during the incident through Ayesha's bluetooth earbuds and tells to him that she was alive even after they disposed of her but the only thing that grieved him really was that she was pregnant at the time of her death and says that they actually destroyed 3 lives on that day including his. Trilok then exits the room leaving Justin to die.


World of Siva (Fire/Agni)

The story begins with Siva's mother leaving him, his father and his brother Siddhu. Years later Siva is now a dreaded gangster working under his mentor Bhadran, a crime boss. Siva is protective to his brother and always harsh with his girlfriend Rukku. Siddhu is invited to join the gang by Bhadran when he is released after arresting for almost killing a guy in his college. Siva's life takes a turn when his father is found shot in a bar. As per the CCTV records his father was killed by Vishnu, a crime boss in Mumbai and Siva decides to take revenge on full support by Bhadran. Siva along with Nandha and Prabha, his gang mates goes to Mumbai much to the disapproval of Rukku. On the bus to Mumbai Siddhu is found by Nandha and Siva throws him out but Nandha allows him to stay as they were halfway. On reaching Mumbai Siva ties with a gangster to take out Vishnu. On the next night during a festival Siva along with his gang reaches Vishnu and creates a bloodshed shootout in which Prabha and many others are killed. Siva eliminates almost every member of Vishnu's gang and Siddhu who was put in a car trunk for his safety escapes and rushes to Siva only to see him get killed by Vishnu. Siddhu along with Nandha manages to escape and reaches their hideout hotel. The next morning a revenge driven Siddhu takes Nandha's gun and goes to Vishnu's house only to be shocked by seeing his mother there who is now Vishnu's wife and it is revealed that it was the reason why Vishnu killed Siva's and Siddhu's father and Siva was actually distracted by seeing his mother and Vishnu taking advantage of this kills Siva. As Vishnu enters the room Siddhu kills him and his mother begs him to escape. The story ends with a grieving Siddhu running through the streets of Mumbai.


World of Rudra (Earth/Bhoomi)

Rudra Ramachandran is an army trainee who is madly in love with Akshara who is his girlfriend. He constantly ruins Akshara's marriage proposals by creating a scene in their house. Rudra is the son of Brig. Ramachandran and Vidya Ramachandran, who always scolds him due to his aggressive behavior but his father always considers him as a friend. Akshara's father Brig. Sundarrajan decides to file a case against him in order to expel him from the army as a revenge for his aggressive actions but Rudra's father and mother requests him not to. Later Akshara tell Rudra that she a got admission for degree in Australia and has to leave soon and promises to him that she will always be his. 4 years later Rudra who has now become an army officer narrates the story to his senior officer Col. Raunaq Sachdeva and team mates. He tells them that Akshara has not even tried to contact him till this date and due to her constant ignoring he even went to Australia but she refused to see him and now he had received her marriage invitation card. Raunaq says that his team members must never accept defeat and Rudra must go to the marriage. Rudra along with Raunaq, Daisy and other team mates goes to Akshara's house the day before her marriage. Rudra sees her but she refuses to talk to him and asks him to leave. At the marriage eve function Rudra barges and declares Alok, Akshara's fiance to fight with him. Alok who is a boxing champion beats up Rudra as he falls unconscious but Raunaq motivates him to fight back, Rudra now back up brutally beats up Alok but his hindered by Akshara who tells him that it was really his father who he considered as his best friend forced Akshara to leave Rudra and a shocked Rudra leaves the function. Later his mother tells him about an incident that happened when he was 2 years old that his parents were on the verge of divorce as his father had an affair with another lady. Although he broke up with her for the sake of his marriage the lady was declared pregnant and the lady is revealed to be Akshara's mother which makes Akshara, Brig. Ramanchandran's daughter and Rudra's half-sister. The film ends with Rudra asking forgiveness to Alok on the day of his marriage with Akshara.

BHOOMI BOLLYWOOD MOVIE REVIEW

STORY: A shoe-smith Arun Sachdeva (Sanjay) is shattered when he discovers that his daughter, Bhoomi (Aditi) has been raped by Dhauli (Sharad) and his gang of three. The father and daughter grieve for a bit before planning revenge.

Bhoomi is a revenge drama that tries a lot to be bold, brave and advocate feminism but wants to stay in the comfort zone of a typical Bollywood masala film. The result is stereotypes, over-the-top melodrama and a predictable story.
But here’s the good news: Baba is back and Sanjay Dutt fans will be more than happy to see him onscreen. Interestingly, Dutt, who returns to the screen after three years, plays an age-appropriate role in the film directed by Oomung Kumar. And he is in form.
Bhoomi is the story of a father-daughter duo (Sanjay Dutt’s Arun and Bhoomi played by Aditi Rao Hydari) who lead a simple life when a sudden turn of events shake their world.
But then Bhoomi stumbles, once more owing to its dependence on heightened melodrama augmented with a piercing score aimed unabashedly at evoking tears and ringing eardrums. There is enough violence to make you uncomfortable and look away, but no tears – because the characters are weeping buckets, ensuring you know exactly what they are feeling.
Certain scenes are designed with interesting elements – for instance the crime scene, and the early moments between father and daughter – but design and drama are printed in bold all over the film. There is no escaping either, and there is no subtlety in their delivery.

Aditi looks vulnerable as the stuttering, sweet girl and later tries wearing a tougher demeanour as the avenging angel. Sharad is too much the caricatured villain from the 80s, mouthing over-the-top lines. The overall writing is clunky. Artur Zurawski's camera work is efficient. Sachin-Jigar have composed a couple of foot-tapping numbers, which do not have recall but when they are playing, you find yourself grooving.

Watch Bhoomi for Dutt. He's from that era of larger-than-life heroes who get you to applaud even when he turns a killing machine. You may not approve of his bloodlust, but you can't fault his swagger.

 Story: Roshan Kalra(Saif) is a three-star Michelin chef who gets fired from New York's Gulli restaurant after he punches a customer. Forced to take a break, he flies to Kochi to spend time with his son, Armaan (Svar) and his estranged wife Radha Menon (Padmapriya). It's a fruitful trip because he manages to mend broken family ties. In a bid to help him get his mojo back, his wife suggests he put up his own food truck and begin afresh.

The story kicks off in Chandni Chowk as a young Roshan Kalra dreams of being a cook. When his father coaxes him towards more academic pursuits he runs away to become a high-flying Chef in New York. But soon he's thrown out of his job and he ends up back home trying to make amends with his ex-wife and son. The stint back home helps Roshan (Saif Ali Khan) get in touch with his lost zest for cooking. But for a man who's supposed to be a celebrated and renowned chef, Roshan does absolutely no cooking in his restaurant kitchen. He shouts, he yells and he even punches people in the face, but he doesn't cook. When he does get down to cooking, scenes show him making fettucine pasta on several occasions. And he makes tomato chutney and then a roti based pizza. That's it. The original Chef with Jon Favreau had him carving a pig, cooking a four-course menu, dishing out crazy fast food on his food truck, not just that he sliced, diced and grated everything from zucchini to cheese to meat like a pro. But Saif in this film boils pasta, slices onions and tomatoes and kneads dough. There's very little effort to bring any insight into cooking or the gastronomic quirks of India.

Leading the performances is Saif Ali Khan. The actor is in brilliant form, both as the hot-headed 'menopausal' man and later as the caring father/husband who is keen to cement ties. Padmapriya is like luscious chocolate who leaves you with a craving. Svar is a preteen you can identify with. Sobhita Dhulipala (Vinnie), who shows up briefly as Roshan's co-worker and friend is good.

The film takes you on a fun-filled road trip with food and family as the focus. There are few dramatic confrontations but Ritesh Shah's dialogues are smart and witty. The pace though is a bit slow; the feeling is similar to the one where you are sitting famished at the lunch table and the order arrives after a part of your hunger has dissipated.

First thing first, the writers Ritesh Shah, Suresh Nair and Raja Krishna Menon make a decent adaptation but it's not that delicious and lip smacking as the original and young Roshan's unbeatable cravings for that high-calorie chola bhatura. The movie begins with Saif's voice over which describes how his life was ruled by his nose that could smell good flavours and the aura of a well-cooked food decided his ambition in life to be a cook. How rightly a wise man has said, 'Well began is half done' but surprisingly over here, Saif's entry and the tiff with the customer in New York comes all of a sudden, demanding special powers of acceptance. The original had had an amusing episode of Jon Favreau getting into a battle with a food critic on social media which goes viral. The critic's sarcastic comment that Jon is overweight cause he has to eat the leftovers returned by customers is quite funny. Raja Krishna Menon's CHEF lacks that tadka and just by saying that the protagonist is from Delhi, the aggression isn't justified.
