Android 8.1 Oreo Beta Download Now
Android 8.1 will bring with it improvements to Android Go, the lighter version of Android that's used on phones with 1GB of memory or less and a new Neural Network API that will effectively turn on the Pixel Visual Core that features in the Pixel 2 phones, but will also improve on-device machine intelligence of other Android devices.
By unlocking the Pixel Visual Core's full potential, it means third-party apps will be able to benefit from the Pixel 2's impressive camera skills. At the moment, only Google's own camera app can take pictures with HDR+ technology, so if you use the camera directly through WhatsApp for example, images probably won't look as good as if they're taken with the dedicated camera app.
The Pixel Visual Core is designed to change this, so there should be no need to switch between apps to take the perfect picture.
As we said, it's not just the Pixel 2 phones that will benefit from the Android 8.1 beta, as the original Pixel phones, along with the Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Android emulator can all be updated too. Following the update, the machine learning capabilities will see a significant improvement thanks to frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, Caffe2 and others.
Android Go devices will get a performance boost too thanks to better memory optimisation of apps and password managers will be able to better integrate with Google's Autofill framework.
To download the Android 8.1 Oreo developer preview, you need to have a Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P or a device running the Android emulator and enroll in the Android beta program. You will automatically get an over-the-air update after you've enrolled.
If you're already enrolled, then you don't need to do anything, as the update should be made available to you automatically.

Delete Sent Messages In WhatsApp
WaBetaInfo, a fan site for WhatsApp, in a report, first observed that the popular messaging application had planned the feature for Android, iOS and Windows phone platforms.
According to the report, "Delete for Everyone" will let people recall messages within seven minutes of sending them. Earlier, reports had suggested that WhatsApp had been trialing the feature with its testers, but it now looks like the feature is live for a small group of users.
Though it has been confirmed by WhatsApp in its updated FAQpage, the feature's activation may be very slow and it could be a while before all users can try it.
How does it work?
According to the report, when you revoke a message, "WhatsApp sends a fake copy of the message to the receiver. When the recipient receives that false copy, his phone won't show you the notification and it won't save it in his chat history. However, it will check if there is the ID of the message in the database: on the off chance that it will discover the message, the message will be recalled".
The report further adds that the recalled message will be also deleted in the notifications center (on iOS) of the recipient at the exact moment you have revoked it, while on Android the message will be updated with the “This message was deleted for everyone” text.
But before you can go about deleting messages, be sure that both the sender and the recipient have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on their phones.
This particular feature has been one that has remained on many a wishlist for long, and will come as great news for those unsure of using WhatsApp for the fear of wrongly sending messages to a different chat, or maybe sending something that they didn't intend to in the first place.
Interestingly, the revoking of messages isn't just limited to text and also works for photos, videos, GIFS, contact cards, etc but WhatsApp has decided not to enable the functionality for quoted messages or broadcast messages. Thankfully, people can revoke messages in group as well as individual chats.
WhatsApp, of late, has been on a feature rollout spree, and for better or for worse, recently launched a new feature called Live Location Sharing – an update which was met with mixed reactions from its more than a billion-strong user base across the globe. But with this new feature, no backlash is expected as it gives users more power over the content they share and with whom they share it.
Though the update has been rolled out silently, it could prove to be one of the most important changes to the messaging platform in the past few months. WhatsApp's parent company Facebook has already had this feature for a while — and with its latest move, the messaging app has moved one step closer to integrating the editing of sent messages.

Link Aadhar With Your Mobile Number Online
For online linking, submit unique identification number (Aadhaar) using a One Time Password (OTP) based option to be made available soon, or log on to the service provider's mobile App and link Aadhaar with mobile number.
Subscribers can also link their Aadhaar using IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System).
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Wednesday issued "comprehensive instructions” for linking of Aadhaar with mobile numbers in its bid to expedite compliance with the Supreme Court's order.
"As per the new rules, the DoT has introduced three new methods to link a registered mobile number with Aadhaar i.e. OTP (One Time Password) based, App based and the IVRS facility. These new methods will help subscribers get their mobile number linked to Aadhaar without visiting the stores of the telcos,” the department said in a statement.
For the ease of senior citizens and people with disability or chronic illness, the DoT has also recommended re-verification at subscribers’ doorstep.
According to the new guidelines, the telecom operators should activate an online mechanism for people to request such service and based on their availability, they could pay a visit and complete the process, the Ministry added.
"Mobile penetration is increasing rapidly in the country and the subscribers need to be provided with the ease of linking Aadhaar number with mobile number. It is the government’s endeavour to improve convenience and reduce the time and energy spent by consumers to access government information and services that are their right,” Communications Minister Manoj Sinha said.
The Aadhaar number was designed to enable all residents of the country to access critical government services and important information, he added.
Industry welcomes
"The latest clarification from the DoT are aligned with what industry and the subscribers need. While it will take a little time to implement the directions, we are working closely with the government to improve and enhance the convenience of our consumers for undertaking Aadhaar based e-KYC linking of their mobile number,” Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said.
In a circular in August, the DoT had given instructions to the telecom service providers to provide for iris or fingerprint based authentication of Aadhaar. In keeping with privacy rules, the DoT also mandated that telecom service providers' agents should not have access to the subscribers' e-KYC data and only the name and address of the subscribers should be visible.
Xiaomi MIUI 9 Global Rom To Be Released In India On November 2 2017
Xiaomi India has started teasing its new smartphone series launch on November 2 with a string of social platform posts. Alongside, the company is launching the global stable version of its MIUI 9 operating system in India on the same day. The recently announced MIUI India Twitter handle revealed the bit in a tweet and said, "We listened to your requests. Global MIUI 9 is coming to India on November 2. Are you excited?"
This will mean that the eligible Mi and Redmi devices sold in India will be getting the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM. To refresh, the MIUI 9 is the latest version of Xiaomi's custom UI interface which was unveiled in August alongside the Xiaomi Mi 5X. Some of the new features of MIUI 9 include, faster app load times, new design elements, lockscreen shortcuts, splitscreen feature, and more. Xiaomi claims to have optimised the system to enable faster app loading and boost performance. Which is why the company is teasing the launch with the hashtag, #LightningFast.
Next up, dropping a major hint about the upcoming 'new' smartphone series, Redmi India's Twitter handle indicates the new phone may belong to Redmi range. The tweet included the teaser image and said, "I'm not a Note" thus confirming that the upcoming Xiaomi device may not belong to Mi Note-series, as previously speculated, or even the Redmi Note series. Other taglines included were "I'm not a book" and "I'm a new series." The company is heavily marketing the phone as to click "best selfies" somehow tipping that the phone will be targeted at selfie-obsessed users.
With the Mi and Redmi series already in India, the company was expected to bring the Mi Note series in India. Though, the latest series of tweets confirm it may be a new Redmi series. The Chinese company couple of months back sent out similar launch invites, teasing a 'new series', and then had revealed the Mi A1 - the first smartphone in an all-new Android One range by Xiaomi that's made in collaboration with Google.
Currently, Xiaomi covers a broad range of price categories with its Redmi and Mi-Series smartphones. The Redmi 4A is the company's cheapest Android smartphone offering in the country while the recently unveiled Mi MIX 2 is the most expensive one in the entire portfolio.
The company also unveiled the Redmi 5A smartphone in China earlier this month which is the successor to the Redmi 4A. In August, it had launched the Redmi Note 5A in China, with a 16-megapixel front camera revealing its focus on selfies. The company may launch these smartphones at its November 2 launch.

USB Debugging
- USB Debugging is a way for an Android device to communicate with the Android SDK (Software Developer Kit) over a USB connection. It allows an Android device to receive commands, files, and the like from the PC and allows the PC to pull crucial information like log files from the Android device. And all you have to do is tick a button to make it happen.
- The most common reason for enabling USB Debugging is developers pushing apps to their devices to test.Without USB Debugging, you can’t send any advanced commands to your phone via a USB cable.
- Whenever you create a new build of your app and want to test it, you can push it to your connected device with just a few clicks. After building, it will run and pop up on your device right away. This is way faster than downloading the APK file and installing it manually.
- Non-developers commonly enable USB debugging to root their phones. Rooting varies by device, but most methods involve some program that you run from your desktop. Once you enable USB debugging and connect your phone, you can use a root tool to send the root instructions to your device without even touching it. Installing a custom ROM involves a similar process.
- In theory, with USB Debugging enabled, plugging your phone into a public charging port could cause problems. If someone had access to the port, they could potentially steal information off your device or push malicious apps to it. This is why Android displays a confirmation prompt, so you don’t connect to a PC you don’t trust. However, an unsuspecting user could accept the prompt without realizing what it’s for.
- Additionally, leaving USB Debugging enabled makes your device open to attack if you were to lose it. Someone who knew what they were doing could connect your device to their computer and issue commands to it over ADB without knowing your PIN. That’s scary, and a good reason you should have Android Device Manager set up so you can remotely wipe your device.
- Unless you regularly use ADB and connect your Android device to your PC all the time, you shouldn’t leave USB Debugging enabled all the time. It’s fine to leave on for a few days while you’re working on something, but there’s no need to have it enabled when you’re not regularly using it.
- Rooting and installing other OSes
- Speed up device animations
- Fake your device’s GPS location
- Speed up high-end games
- Record screen activity
